Zsory thermal bath and spa is a famous and well known spa in northern hungary, near Eger and Miskolc


Access : Located in northern Hungary, about 150kms from Budapest, on M3 highway by car or by train. There is no Intercity train unfortunatelly only with change in Fuzesabony, but there are quite regular speed trains from Budapest Keleti station. You have to catch a local bus (number 2, 5) from train station to the thermal bath (it's a few kms from the city downtown).

Accommodations: there are couple of nice, friendly hotels and pansions, guesthouses. Most of them with restaurant, with tasty local dishes. Prices vary from 20euros per night with breakfast. Hotels and pansions are within walking distance to thermal bath.

The thermal bath :
the Zsory thermal bath offers famous and curative warm water, which is very good for dyspepsia, rheumatism. The thermal facilities are modern, designed. The open pool (which operates only on summertime) are a bit old style.
Facilities :
The Zsory thermal bath offers 13 different pool,three open thermal pool with 30, 34 degrees celsius water and three with 36, 38 and 40 degree celsius. There are jacuzzi, weight-bath, mudtherapies, massage, sauna and a large swimming pool available.

Curative effects :
The role of the thermal baths is very important in health conservation, curing and rehabilitation. Millions of people get well in the Zsory Thermal Bath and Swimming Pool more than 60 years ago. By the help of the most auspicious physical effect, the buoyancy, the bodyweight decreases to tenth part and the load of articulations become minimal.
The chemical effect of the Zsory curative water is determined by its significant Calcium, Magnesium, Chloride, Hydrogen-carbonate and Sulphide ion contents.
The amount of total dissolved mineral material content of the water is 3.5 3.89 g/l, which is far higher than the amount necessary for having a water declared mineral (1 g/l). The average amount of Sulphide ions (15.5 mg/l) is the highest among all the sulphurous curative waters of Hungary.
Through its vasodilator effect, sulphur, which is absorbed through the skin, decreases blood-pressure and improves circulation to the blood vessels, including the coronary arteries, as well as the sulphur-contents of the vein walls, thus decreasing their cholesterol contents and the danger of arteriosclerosis. Sulphurous baths have an obstructive effect on the Langerhans cells of the epidermis, which has an antiphlogistic effect. Through the sour glucose-amino glycase enzyme of the interstitial tissue, it stimulates breathing and improves metabolism. In arthrosis, the sulphur-contents of the cartilage decrease. Sulphur incorporates into the articular cartilage, contributes to the production of chondroitin sulphate, thus improves degenerative articular diseases. As a result of the ceratholytic effect of the sulphide ion, the water plays an important role in the treatment of psoriasis-related skin-conditions. Due to its Calcium, Magnesium and hydro-carbonate contents, the Zsory water has an antiphlogistic effect, and is also used to treat osteoporosis. Its high chloride-contents increase the resistance of the body, and have an invigorating and general intensifying effect.
