Visegrad, International Royal Palace Fair
Friday 9th July, 2010
9:30 Royal Procession takes place
from the Catholic Church on the main street of Visegrad to the Royal Palace. In a spectacular
fashion the Czech King and his son, the Marquis of Moravia with his tournament guards,
the Polish King leading his knights with the King of Hungary accompanied by his royals with
their arms in hand, followed by a multitude of domestic and international nobles and gentle folk
along with knights, man at arms will proceed to the palace complex.

During the tournament over two hundred knights and man-at-arms from Czech Republic, Bavaria,
Italy, Poland, and the Carpathian Highlands along with the Hungarian Royal Knights of Saint
George will enter the contests. Horse archers and infantry archers will start by showering their
adversaries with their accurate and deadly arrows. The royal falconers, beautiful ladies of the
court, crossbow men, Italian flag throwers, trick and show riding exhibits and other entertainment
will be featured for the kings, their nobles and the distinguished audiences.

13:00 14:00 Archery Competition
Participants must be in appropriate historic costume and use traditional weapons.
14:00 15:00 Middle Age Ball Game Contest
Two teams are trying to get the leather ball with wooden paddles into the opponents goal.
15:00 16:30 Knights Tournament
During the tournament over two hundred knights and man-at-arms from Czech Republic, Bavaria,
Italy, Poland, and the Carpathian Highlands along with the Hungarian Royal Knights of Saint
George will enter the contests. Horse archers and infantry archers will start by showering their
adversaries with their accurate and deadly arrows. The royal falconers, beautiful ladies of the
court, crossbow men, Italian flag throwers, trick and show riding exhibits and other entertainment
will be featured for the kings, their nobles and the numerous audiences.
12:00 23:00 Royal Wine Court
The Wine Court invites all for merry tasting and drinking with special wine selections from
Hungary and abroad. To help choose the best for the guests, wine makers from their famous
vineyards will be on hand.
19:00 23:00 Royal Feast
The feast is a pleasant addition to the wines offered at the wine court.

Contestants and public - sports figures will be challenged in running, archery, wall climbing,
wrestling, javelin throwing, crossbow archery and battle star throwing to earn a riding horse!

Middle Age harbor with sloops and galleys, and on board feasts.
Each day during the fair you can choose to feast with kings, nobles or knights and taste the
traditional dishes of the middle ages, fiery Hungarian wines, cool Czech beers or the Polish honey brandy.

spectacular fashion will take place with the Czech King and his son, the Marquis of Moravia with
his tournament guards, the Polish King leading his knights with the King of Hungary
accompanied by his royals with their arms in hand, followed by a multitude of domestic and
international nobles, gentle folk along with knights, man at arms and proceed to the palace
complex. Join the beginning of merry making and the fair that offers musicians, jesters, artist and
a market transporting you back to the Middle Ages.
Learn the skills of blacksmiths, bakers and glass blowers or watch the historic performances and
dances. Plenty of games to enjoy for the young lads and lassies.
Middle Age market and historic handcraft exhibitions on the main street and front of the
royal palace.
Middle Age play land and classes for young artist in various handicraft skills in the park
front of the royal palace.
Across the main entrance of the royal palace a military camp from the XIV. XV.
Centuries can be visited where riding, archery, spear and battle star throwing can be
experienced.
The park stage will feature historic entertainment, dances, comedy, music concerts along
with puppet shows and combat arts demonstrations.
At the Salamon Tower the court stage offers historic music concerts, minstrel contest, love
heptathlon, fair comedians, knights combat and dance performances for the spectators.
The hill castle will have an exhibit and demonstration of middle age battle equipment,
exhibit of the Hungarian Royal Saint Crown with waxworks showing the kings meeting in
1335.
Three outdoors stages, four Middle Ages kids playgrounds and numerous family programs
waiting for you!

How to get to Visegrad
By boat on Danube Check timetable
By car you have to follow the 11th main road from Budapest
By train you can come from Nyugati Train station to Vαc/Nagymaros direction. At Nagymaros you have to cross Danube by ferry. Ferry goes diretly to downtown of Visegrad. Check train timetable

If you are brave enough, learn and try archery, horse riding
Go there by boat from Budapest and come back by train..it is boring to go and come back on boat. If you have time have a night in the region and see the visegrad palace, the famous basilica in esztergom and the wonderful panorama of the danube bend.
