Mangalitsa Festival, Budapest
Mangalitsa is a breed of pig grown especially in Hungary and the Balkans known also as a curly-hair hog. Malalitsa pigs became a trendy type of meat in Hungary in the recent years, thanks to its nice flavour, low cholesterol.
3rd Mangalista Festival between 5-7 February 2010, will be hold in the City Park at Castle of Vajdahunyad. The city park is actually behind the Heroes's Square, so it is quite in the downtown, easy access by underground (yellow).
Program, Events
The festival is open from 10am till evening. Traditional hungarian folk music will be played on the stage, while many kiosk wait for the hungry travellers and visitors.
You can try sausages, hurka, bacons, roasted mangalitsa meat with a taste of best wines and palinkas. But not only hungarians, but exhibitors from spain or austria can give you a taste of their salamis made of mangalitsa.
But there will be intersting meals like mangalitsa hot dog or deer steak.
