The town itself is lack of attractions although the surrounding 'small balaton' natural reserve offers great opportunity for biking, birdwatching, fishing, etc.

9th - Egerszalok

Egerszalok is a village near Eger. It was one of the most unique looking spa till the early 2000s, as the salt from the mineral water just crystallized and made a huge hill. The whole spa was somekind of old style hippie stuff from the 60s with open pools, no or small entry fee, nighttime bathing (with several sofporn spot:-) ). Now it is over as the newly developed spa and hotel took its place. But the water remains the same fine, wines of eger are still tasty, so worth a try...

8th - Gyula

Gyula located near the southern border of Hungary with Romania. The town was born to be a spatown with great location, nice peoples, great shops, tasty cake shops and fantastic castle of Gyula. The only thing it is on 8th place beacuse of the travel time from Budapest, but there are a lot of hotels and cheap guesthouses if you'd like to stay for a while.
