Visegrad Palace Games
from 9th July - 11th July, Family program held in the Palace of Visegrad.Palace Games are good fun for the whole family. Kids usually love knight tournaments, and parents can have their own fun also, like taste good wines, and great medieval style foods, made of real old medieval recepies. Prepare those are mainly meat with meat... If you are brave enough, learn and try archery, horse riding Go there by boat from Budapest and come back by train..it is boring to go and come back on boat. If you have time have a night in the region and see the visegrad palace, the famous basilica in esztergom and the wonderful panorama of the danube bend.

Kalaka folk music festival is the largest folk music event in Hungary. Enjoy authentic folk music from all over Hungary, Transylvania. There are also open theatre plays, medieval marketplace.
MEDIEVAL CASTLE DAYS 14-15th August, 2010
in the favourite castle of King Louis the Great The historical event, which revives the Castle’s „golden age”, illustrates the time of the knight-king, Louis the Great in the 14th century. This is a real historical travel through the ages: characters in period dresses and scenery of the time restore the past.

Fortress of Eger
17th July - 20th July , Medieval Marketplace
Busy medieval marketplace fron the the fortress on the Dobo square. You can taste medieval foods and sweets, see dresses of the medieval ages. Fun for the whole family as kids can play in the medieval playhouse, try their skills at one of the handcraft artist (pottery,etc.) while adults can try local wines.
18st July - 28th July, Castle Fun
Located in the fortress, you can see classic medieval knight tournament, pieces of the great battles with the turkish ottoman empire. Beside you can taste local wines, gastronomy of the medieval hungary.

These castles, fortresses are easy to reach, as most of them are in city centres (except Csesznek, but that one can reach by car or bus). Hotels, restaurants nearby. You'd better plan a whole day trip to one of these. Entrace fees usually appliable, but do not count any high numbers. But count on your children, as there are many tents which sell sweets, lollies, etc. Notice that these events held on direct sunlight, so keep a hat on, and do not forget suncream.
