Skanzen, Szentendre
Skanzens are open air museums, displaying how peoples lived in past, their personal belongings and everyday life.
Szentendre
The biggest and the best known skanzen is lying 247 buildings on 60acres, not far from Budapest.
The buildings and the subjects are from the 18th till 20th century.
The exhibition is separated into 7 regions, as seven regions of hungary. The buildings and the surroundings made and looks like natural, as you were walking on the street of a village in the 19th century.
Every region has its unique way of living and speciality, like in the balaton region you can see wine making equipments, in the southern transdanubia part you can see minority houses as there are lots of serbs and german nationalities.
The skanzen in Szentendre is not only a museum, but there are ongoing events, you can see how they made pottery, bread...
The entrance fee is 1200 HUF for adults, open every day.

Tiszaalpar
This open air museum can be found on the Great Plains, near the Tisza lake, 116kms from Budapest. The village was populated from the 1st century, and it is a renovated village from the 1st-2nd century. So you won't find buildings here, since the houses were digg half into the ground, so only the roof can be seen.
The really interesting museum can be visited from may till october , from 10am till 5pm. It is closed on mondays. More about Tisza Lake
