Szilvasvarad
is a small village in the Hills of Bukk, around 20kms
north from Eger.
The village is in a valley, surrounded by beautiful
mountains and forests.
There are many things in Szilvasvarad to be famous
for.
There are beautiful forests, as part of the Bukk National Park, you
can take a short walk, or you can go even by horse cart to see Waterfall of
Szalajka Valley.
You can even go further into the forest to discover Istallos
ko, where once cavemen lived 35-40000 years ago.
Szilvasvarad also famous
for its lipizzaner stables, you can see stables and horse carts all over the
village. You can even try one!
The first lipizzaner horses came to
Szilvasvarad at 1806. Nowadays around 250 lipizzaner horse live on the Bukk
plains, by a short walking tour or bicycle ride you can see them in the wild,
run freely on Bukk plains.
