The thermal water contains natrium, calcium-magnesium, hydrogen-carbonates and silica. The quality of the thermal water is high; it is very high ranked among sulphur contained thermal waters. It is medically proven that, among other things, the water is well suited for post-treatment of bone injuries or rheumatism.
Nowadays the thermal spa is fully newed with modern facilities and services, but tried to keep some of the "magic" of the old times, when Egerszalok spa was quite natural and simple so called closed to nature.
Egerszalok offers many accommodations, from guesthouses up to 4star hotel, offers nice time for families, friends and even corporate events.
On the northern part of the village there is a big artificial reservoir (130 acres). The original purpose is to keep rainwater off the village and also provides water for irrigation to settlements south from Egerszalok. However, the reservoir is well suited for fishing and different water sports as well.
Egerszalok also part of Eger wine region, so you will be able to find and try famous wines of the region, like "Leanyka" or the red "Bull's blood".
Tips :
If you take a walk in the village of Egerszalok, do not miss to see the cave houses, which was made during 19th century. Those usually only 1 room and was used mainly the poors.
How to get there
By bus from Nepstadion bus station. There are direct buses to Eger about every 1-1.5hour. Change at Eger to Egerszalok
By car on highway M3 to Miskolc direction. Take exit near Fuzesabony to Eger, than to Kerecsend. Take left turn at the begining of Eger directly to Egerszalok. take route
