Bukk National Park
The endless forests of Bukk Plateau standing at the highest average height of Hungary are diversified by caves (1100 known caves) and blossoming monutain meadows. The National Park has sign-posted walking trails and cycle network, spetacular views at the stones and various demonstration sites, all offering unforgettable experience for both adults and children.

Felsotarkany Trail - showing the spectacular Ko-kozi rocky gorge and the geological formation of Var-hegy.
Olasz Kapu Trail - showing the cliffs and wide mountain meadows of the southern borders of Bukk (7.2km)
Szalajka Valley - a very popular trail with plenty of ineresting informations about the Bukk's cultural and natural heritage. (4.2km)
Caves of Bukk
Anna Cave - tuffaceous limestone cave, no special equipment needed. Location : Lillafured
Szent Istan Cave - beautiful dropstone cave, open 1st Apr - 30th Sept 9am till 6pm, 1st Oct - 31th March 9am till 3pm. Location : Lillafured
Szeleta Cave - once prehistorian men were living here for 10.000 years. Open for public, free of charge.
Bike rental you can rent bike at Vistior Centre in Felsotarkany (around 10kms from Eger).

Ferto Hansag National Park
This marshy western gateway to Hungary is a land where myths and legends tell of the area's mysterious past. Much may have changed since then, and today the National Park straddles the border with Austria, but the Ferto and Hansag areas remain outstandingly rich in natural treasures and listed as an UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Istok Hany Trail - a fascinating excursion following the footsteps of Istok Hany, who accordingly to the local myths was found here. (5km)
Sea aster trail - a nature trail sutiable for walkers and cyclists, offering an insight into the flora and fauna of saline lakes and plains and presents traditional Hungarian domestic animals. (4km)
Hortobagy National Park
Hortobagy was the first National Park in Hungary as well as the largest salt plain in Central Europe a remaining of a once steppe land. An Area in which a unique herding culture has evolved over many centuries manifesting itself in distrinctive traditional styles of clothing and architecture, and the tending of particular types of animals not found elsewhere. A great number for the busy life on Hortobagy, as during the autumn migration, 60 to 70.000 cranes take rest on the Puszta.

Hortobagy Shepherd Museum - Hortobagy, 1st Petofi sq., a former cart shed, from the 19th century next to the iconic Nince-Arch Bridge. Open : 10am till 2pm (4pm during summer)
Narrow Gauge Rail - narrow gauge train to the fishponds from Apr till Oct
