BUDAPEST
Capital of Hungary, lies on both side of river Danube,
makes the city one of the most beautiful capital cities in Europe.
If you are
in Hungary not to miss one or a few days in Budapest. Hop on a sightseeing bus
or simply getting around on foot in the downtown area.
History of Budapest is
rooted deeply in the past as far as roman empire. Aquincum the roman ruin city
was a busy military camp in the roman empire, nowadays waiting for visitors. The
old heritage of kings and queens also can be found near and around Budapest in
Danube bend at Visegrad. But Budapest also has a history
ongoing today, like the House of Terror or the Parliament. But you won't get
bored after sundown, get in a nice restaurant for a hungarian style dinner with
gypsy music or take a walk at Margareth Island or dig deep into Budapest's busy
and noisy nightlife with casinos and discos, girls and boys.
Money and
cost
Hungary is member of EU, but not using Euro as currency. The
Hungarian currency is the Hungarian Forint (HUF). Hungarian banknotes are 20000,
10000, 5000, 1000, 500 and 200. Coins are 100, 50, 20, 10, 5, 2 and 1.
If you
bring Euro or Pound or Dollar and wish to change it to Forint, we recommend to
bring your credit card or cashpoint card and get local Forint at ATMs. You get
the best rates. Do not change money at individuals at train stations or at the
street! Pls note cash is king in Hungary, although credit cards are accepeted at
most of the shops and restaurants, if you are going to small shop, take a taxi
or bus you better have cash.
Little about the costs. Nowadays a bottle
of beer is around 150 HUF at a normal supermarket. It is around 0.8 USD,
60eurocent, around 0.4 pound.
