Southern Great Plains, is lying from south of Budapest, through Kecskemet, over the river Tisza to Szeged, and ends at the romanian border, with Bekescsaba and Gyula.
The region is flat plain, with dry climate, but that does not mean that it's kidda boring place. There are much to discover, see and visit. The plains , so called Puszta, is worth a visit by itself. There are many opportunity for horse riding, biking, fishing. It is real paradise for nature lovers.
For culture vultures there are the old historical cities, like Kecsekemet or Szeged. If you like gastronomy there are many great festivals in bekescsaba and gyula, both home of a well known hungarian salami.
But do not forget smaller places, like Mako, home of the hungarian onion and the annual onion fest, or Opusztaszer, which is a historical place, with a memorial park for the incoming of the hungarians in 896 A.D.
Southern Great Plains area is rich in mineral and curative water, as Hungary itself. There are many great wellness hotels, thermal baths, near Szeged, or Gyula.
