Holloko

Holloko has also an attraction of its traditional costume. On special occassions the whole village puts on the colourful, rickfully decorated dress. Naturally visitors of Holloko have the opportunity to admire the lively folkcostume, but you have to preserv it before your visit. Every year traditional and cultural programmes are held in the old village of Holloko, where thousands of toursts visit and the inhabitants participate in colourful folk costume on these occassions. Wherever you walk in the village of Holloko or in its surroundings the fortress, built on the top of the rock ofen appears. According to the ancient legend the one-time owner of the village, some Andras of Kacsics family, abducted the neightbour landowner's beautiful wife and closed her into a halt-finished rom of the fortress from these devilravens. In fact the fortress was built in the 12th century and after long period of battles and different owners and occupiers was demolished in 1711 after Rakoczi War of Independence by Habsburgs. It is also worth a walk in the nature around Holloko, which is part of The Holloko Naturepreserving Region (141hectares), includes old grapeparcels, the seed-tree pasture around the fortress.
What is worth visiting in the village for a tourist?
You can attain the technique of the ancient weaving profession in the Weaving House. You can find Village and Post office museum, the Holloko Naturalpreserving Region furnished a seperate exhibition, see Acs Iren's photoartist's permanent gallery and the Barn Garden waits for the tourists with showing different crafts.
