Good to know
Hungary has hungarian forint (HUF) as currency. Hungarian forints are in coins and notes as well.
Coins : 5,10,20,50,100
Notes : 200,500,1000,2000,5000,10000,20000
Some of the shops, hotels used to display prices and take euros as well, but look for the exhange rates, usually too low.
Maybe it is good to use your debit or credit card and take only many hungarian forints out of the atm if you use it. You can easily shop around by card, all major credit cards are widely accepted.
Where your card won't be accepted for sure?
In taxies, they are working on it, but no success until now
on the trains, buses. Unless you pay your ticket at the cashier on the train or bus station do not count that you can pay ticket or fine by card on the vehicles.
in small shops/marketplaces, it is getting better but not all of them prepared
parking, unfortunatelly most of the parking machines can not take cards, not even notes only coins!
