Biking

It is extreemly good to use bike around the lake Balaton. As the settlements are close to each other, no need to ride on a long way, the southern part is flat, the northern are hilly (speccially the Badacsony-Keszthely region). But if you tired, you can hop on any train, boat or bus for cheap price

Western Balaton areas
Route : Gyenesdias-Balatongyorok-Lesence-Tapolca-Szigliget
This tour takes you into the hills above Keszthely. It a hilly part, but nothing hard. Good lookout point in Lesence, where is a nice panorama over the vineyards. Tapolca is a nice stop to go underground boating in the Pond of Cave.

Northern Balaton
Route : Balatonfured-Balatoszolos-Nagyvazsony-Mencshely-Dorgicse-Balatonakali-Vaszoly-Pecshely-Aszofo-Balatonfured (52km)
We start in Balatonfured, as Balatonfured is worth a visit if you are nearby Balaton. Balatonszolos is the next village, with several sights to see, like the Gothic church and the local old houses with narrow verandas along the side. Follow our route, we arrive to Barnag, there is a Baroque Cavary chapel and the Zador Castle from 1380. Moving to our next stop Vorosto (red-lake). You can find here another chapel, a catholic church. Nagyvazsony is a larger place (small town). Here you can find the famous Kinizsi Castle and the Zichy Palace, and monastery ruins, all indicate the changing hungarian history. More ruins on the way to Dorgicse, but near Balatonakali, you can find thatchroofed wine press houses, so not only ruins..but wine! And wine on the way along, Aszofo and Vaszoly...
